Catan’s digital rebirth: Catan Universe

One of the most popular board games published in the last few decades is Catan.

Well, it used to be called Settlers of Catan – but within the last few years officially shortened the name to just Catan.

A number of years ago, Catan also made it’s way to digital devices where it continued to find its way into new players’ hands. And now it’s been updated with a new look and feel with multiple modes of play across all digital platforms (browser, Steam, iOS, GooglePlay, and Amazon Appstore).

When I was young, I thought history was boring. But that has changed tremendously over the years. And when I find a good board game that can bring together historical settings with fantastic game play, I’m super excited.

The beauty of 878: Vikings – Invasion of England delivers on both accounts!

Go full stealth mode in V-Commandos

Regular visitors to our site may already know that one of my favorite board games is a WWII game called Memoir ’44. The game we’re reviewing today is also a WWII-themed board game – but it’s cooperative!

Instead of battling against each other, in V-Commandos players work together to take out enemy objectives in a WWII setting. Yet rather than relying on brute strength to take out enemies and objectives, this game hinges on stealth operations.

Let’s see if V-Commandos is a game that might strike your fancy.

Divinity Derby board game review

When I first heard from Ares Games about Divinity Derby, I didn’t think much of it. After the game arrived, I took a quick look at the rules and because the game play isn’t very complicated, and it plays up to 6 players, I decided to give it a shot soon after.

Playing with 1,750 friends at SaltCon!

Last weekend was a blast.

For a couple days I was able to step away from everything else and just play games. It’s something I look I look forward to every year.

And once again, SaltCon hit record attendance. This was the 10th year of SaltCon and attendance clocked in at 1,750!

When we first saw Ethnos, it made us think about Small World – another fun area control game with a variety of fantasy creatures. But once we looked further, we realized both games are vastly different in how they play out.
