Help the Toy Story gang!

I’m a big Toy Story fan.

I was blown away with the animation in the first Toy Story movie in 1995 and have loved every one since. So when Disney and Pixar released Toy Story 4 last summer, it didn’t matter if my kids weren’t young anymore. I was going to see it!

And as soon as it hit Disney+ this year, I was ready to see it again.

But Toy Story 4 wasn’t the only cool Toy Story release last year. The OP also released a new Toy Story cooperative board game — Toy Story Obstacles and Adventures!

With as much as I like Toy Story. And as much as we enjoy cooperative board games. I had high hopes diving into the game.

And I won’t make you wait until later for the surprise — it delivers the fun!

Ready to join The Crew?

We’ve all been pretty disappointed since Pluto was declassified as a planet in our solar system.

Not that we had any actual travel plans of getting there some day. But when the International Astronomical Union decided to withdraw Pluto’s status as our solar system’s 9th planet in 2006, it caused quite the stir.

Well, all that’s behind us now. We must look to the future!

And your future may include becoming part of the crew to rediscover the 9th planet in The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine by Kosmos!

Another SaltCon Success

Last weekend wasn’t what I’d expected.

But SaltCon still made me smile.

That’s because every year, I look forward to attending SaltCon — an awesome board game convention in Utah.

As you can see from my anticipatory post last month, SaltCon has tons to offer.

However, this year turned out to be much different for me.

Harry Potter is at it again

Are you ready for another Harry Potter family board game?

We sure are!

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle – Defence Against the Dark Arts may sound like it’s an expansion to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle that we reviewed a few years ago. But it’s not.

It’s a standalone game that’s great on its own merits!

The original game is a cooperative game where players work together to defeat wizarding world villains.

But in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle – Defence Against the Dark Arts, rather than working together, 2 players go head-to-head in a dueling battle!

Point Salad scores big!

This past summer I switched jobs.

The switch was great for me for a number of reasons. One of the cool perks is that there are a bunch of employees that love playing games during lunch breaks.

Since not every game makes a great lunch break game, I’ve been selective on which games to take to the office to play.

A good lunch break game is one that’s quick to set up, relatively quick to play, easy to teach, can accommodate varying numbers of players, has a lot of replay value, and can be enjoyed by almost anyone.

Point Salad has turned out to be a perfect lunch break game!

It also gets lunch break game bonus points for being about food!

Be your favorite Disney villain in Villainous!

With the launch of Disney+ this past month, millions of families are watching tons of classic Disney movies lately.

Of course, to families with young children, this comes as no surprise because they’ve probably been watching lots of Disney movies regularly anyway. In all these movies, we cheer for the hero.

Well, what about the Villains?

If we were to view these movies from the perspective of the villains, they’ve got some major challenges to overcome as well.

Now it’s your turn to try!

Harry Potter maze-shifting fun

For many years we’ve heard of a great introductory family board game called, Labyrinth — first published in 1986. So when I had the chance to get a copy in a trade at SaltCon this year, I was happy to end up with a copy of the game for our family.

But then an even better deal came along.

Ravensburger sent us a copy of the new iteration of the game — Harry Potter Labyrinth!

Yes, it’s exactly the same game play as the original — but we love Harry Potter, so this is totally the way to go for us. Read on to see if it is for your family too.
