What’s a MOD X?

MOD X scores very well on our “let’s play again” game meter for a few reasons.

For starters, even though the game is a mental challenge, it doesn’t take long to play. There also isn’t much in the way of game set up. So it’s really easy when one games ends to dive right into playing another.

Also, the back and forth nature of the scoring usually results in close games. So the player or players who get edged out in the end are anxious to give it another go.

And lastly, because it’s fun!

And Then There Were 2

On Wednesday, Jaden headed out on his 2-year mission to serve the people in Singapore and Malaysia!

He’s been looking forward to this day for so long and it’s so exciting that it’s finally here.

He was all smiles as we dropped him off at the Missionary Training Center where he would spend the next couple months learning Mandarin Chinese before making his way to Singapore.

In fact, everyone was all smiles.

There’s not doubt it’s an emotional moment.

17 Things I Love About Scythe

Scythe is a game with a lot of things to keep track of. There are plenty of rules for players to understand and then figure out how to get all of them working together.

It’s not for a casual gamer.

While there are some elements of luck in the game, the bulk of the game is strategic – driven by the choices the players make. And there are plenty of choices to make.

Players that don’t like that much thinking in a board game aren’t going to like Scythe.

But for players who like to grow their faction through strategic choices, territory control, resource management, construction, upgrades, and combat, there’s a lot to love with Scythe!

Star Trek Panic is a blast!

I can still clearly remember the first time we played Castle Panic.

From the very first turn, the monsters streamed from the forest and wrecked havoc on our castle walls and towers. We were on the defensive immediately and it never seemed to let up.

It was awesome!

So when given the chance to play the just-released Star Trek Panic, we didn’t hesitate a second.

And we’re so happy we did — because Star Trek Panic is a blast!
