Back to School Games

The first sure sign that summer’s coming to an end is Back To School night. While it means an end to summer, I always get excited for Back To School night. I love taking our kids to see their classrooms and meeting their new teachers.

Whether your kids are getting back in school this week or next week or next month, chances are they’ll be dusting off their thinking caps pretty soon.

We love Forbidden Island and when Gamewright announced last year that they were coming out with a sequel of sorts, we were super excited. And we’re even more excited now that we have the game and find that we enjoy it even more!

Kingdom Builder: Nomads expansion review

Kingdom Builder is a fantastic family board game!
It’s easy to learn and play, has great components, and has a nice balance of luck and strategy. But one of the things we like the most is that every game has different win conditions. As such, every game warrants a different approach to keep things interesting.

So when Queen Games published an expansion to Kingdom Builder that provides more boards, more abilities, and more objectives, we were anxious to give it a try.

Board game expansions are becoming a much more common occurrence with modern board games. Look back just a decade and you won’t see many board game expansions. Sure Monopoly has spawned a ton of different versions, but they aren’t considered expansions. They’re just re-theming the same game and each game plays as a stand-alone.
