This coming weekend is Father’s Day.
It’s the day we give a big shout out to fathers everywhere.

The 2015 Spiel des Jahres, Kinderspiel des Jahres, and Kennerspiel des Jahres award nominees were announced this week and we’re happy to see that Colt Express is one of the 3 finalists!
For those new to modern board games, the Spiel des Jahres is the major game award each year. In essence, it’s Game of the Year.
The whole purpose behind the Spiel des Jahres is to “promote games as a cultural asset to encourage gaming amongst family and friends”.

Since the card game Splendor was released last year (2014), we’ve heard a lot of buzz about how awesome it is for a family card game. It seemed every board game podcast and review touted how great a game it is for families.

Before the SaltCon Game Library closed on Friday night, we each checked out a game to hang onto over night so we’d have something new to play before the game library opened the next morning.
After a short but good sleep, Jake and I dove into our second day at SaltCon at 8:30 Saturday morning with a lot of game-playing energy.
