Build your own city in Bloom Town

I can’t quite place my finger on why, but I’ve got a penchant for tile-laying games.

So, when I saw the new tile-laying game, Bloom Town, with its awesome artwork, I was immediately anxious to play it.

Lucky for us, the great team at Sidekick Games sent us a copy to review, so we didn’t have to wait long!

In Bloom Town, players all have their own player board where they’ll place tiles to build out their town to their liking. And they get the tiles to play from a common, central area – which means they’re also competing for those precious tiles.

With multiple things to think about during game play, it makes for an engaging play experience throughout!

So much fun!

Memoir ’44: New Flight Plan – Airplanes to battle!

A few months ago, I ventured to Normandy, France to be a part of the 75th anniversary of D-Day commemoration events.

It was my first time visiting those beaches, fields, and towns and I’ll never forget it. Getting a first-hand look at these historical sites where so many people sacrificed all, was sobering.

One of my favorite locations was Pointe du Hoc. It’s hard to imagine scaling those massive cliffs. And I appreciated seeing the cratered remains from all the bombing on that point.

As I play the latest Memoir ’44 expansion – New Flight Plan, it takes me back to that point.

Tiny Towns board game review

When you set out to build a City, you think big. When you set out to build a Town, you think a little bit less big.

But we imagine you still wouldn’t think about building a town as small as you do in Tiny Towns.

Tiny Towns is a new board game published by AEG that has players constructing their own towns on little 4×4 grids. The variety of buildings to place in those towns is huge. But the area is small.

You’ll have to make the most of your limited space to cram in as many valuable buildings as you can.

We’ve taken a slight break from game reviews the last few weeks because June is a great time for family vacations once the kids are out of school.

And now it’s time to dive back in with a family board game that reminds us of fun family vacations – Reef.

That’s because we enjoy snorkeling and seeing the wonderful underwater beauty of coral reefs. And Reef, by Next Move Games, brings back those memories.

The Quacks of Quedlinburg = strange name, fun game

No, The Quacks of Quedlinburg isn’t a game about ducks in a northern German town.

Well, part of that might be true – because Quedlinburg is a town in northern Germany. But the game has nothing to do with ducks.

Instead, The Quacks of Quedlinburg is about miracle doctor “quacks” showcasing their healing remedies.

In reality, the board game is a fun press-your-luck, bag-building game where players compete in brewing the best potions.

The Game Canopy Deep Space game bag review

One of our favorite game accessories (if you could call it an accessory) is our Game Canopy game bag.

Any time we want to take some games with us — whether on vacation, or to grandma’s house, or to a game convention, or over to a buddy’s house for game night — we fill our Game Canopy with games and we’re on our way!

While the Game Canopy can fit a bunch of games, not all game boxes are created equal. And unfortunately, this means some of the games we may like to take for a game night away just won’t fit in the Game Canopy.

Well, that’s now a concern of the past — because The Game Canopy Deep Space game bag is set to release!
