All aboard! Ticket to Ride: Europe

Ticket to Ride: Europe
Ticket to Fun
Ticket to Ride was a game we had heard about for a number of years. So when we finally picked up Ticket to Ride: Europe we were very excited to play it.

Not having played it before, we quickly dug into the instructions (after checking out the cool train pieces of course). The instructions were very easy to understand – making it easy to jump right in to this fun family board game.  We love the fact that even our youngest can understand how to play the game.

(Brooke wanted to do some of the filming this time around, so I’m afraid you’re stuck with dad giving the review this time.)

Ticket to Ride board gameOne of the elements of Ticket to Ride that we love is the anticipation that builds because you can only choose 1 action each time it’s your turn. Do you keep drawing cards hoping for the color you need? Or do you claim that much needed route before someone else does?

The Ticket to Ride: Europe version has a number of elements that the original Ticket to Ride game doesn’t have which we have enjoyed. We also like the flexibility of determining before each game if we are going to play with all the elements or not (train stations, tunnels, etc.).

It’s a light hearted family game that we like to play best with 4 or 5 people.

Besides, it takes us off to Europe for a while (at least in our imagination), and that’s always a treat.

To get detailed explanations of all the rules, check out the Days of Wonder website.

Want to add a twist and a little more interaction to Ticket to Ride? Throw in the Alvin & Dexter expansion.

    • Alina – Some other great games that are similar in difficulty and decision making to Ticket to Ride are Carcassonne and Stone Age. They’re also easy to learn and include both luck and strategy.
