What’s In Your Ultimate Game Room?
Since we’ve been reviewing family board games for more than 13 years, we’re often asked for advice about what games to buy, how to make a family game night, and other family game-related topics.
Last week, a writer asked us to help contribute to their article on Expert Advice for the Ultimate Game Room at Home.
The question they had for us was, “How do board games bring families together?”
Seeing as that’s the whole purpose of what we’ve been doing for years, we could go on and on about such benefits.
However, since this was just one piece of their article, we had to keep our response limited to around 100 words.
How would you pack all these benefits into just 100 words?
- Spending time together
- Face to face interaction
- Social engagement and stimulation
- Laughing together
- Developing communication skills
- Jointly learning to deal with conflict
- Learning to win and lose gracefully
- Shared memories
- Can be done in your own home
And what would you add to the list?
To see what we focused on, jump over to read the full article yourself on Expert Advice for the Ultimate Game Room at Home. And you’ll likely get even more ideas about how you can create a fantastic game room for your home.
As for our family game room, most of our board game playing together as a family happens around our kitchen table.
That being said, we do use our basement family room as our “game room” when friends come over. That’s where we have our game table – which is topped with a fantastic Game Topper. Plus, we have a pool table, a kitchenette with and under-the-counter mini fridge, a comfy couch, a Lovesac, a loaded bookshelf, and an entertainment center where our large tv and video game consoles are stashed. We also have a ping pong table that we pull out on occasion – though when we do, we have to rearrange the game table and couches to make room.
