KLASK Board Game Review & Giveaway

KLASK board game
Could this be my long awaited air hockey game?

Growing up I loved going over to my friend’s house to play air hockey. I always thought it was so cool that he had an air hockey table. And I longed for the day when I’d be able to get my own air hockey table.

Well, I still don’t have an air hockey table.

But I do have plenty of other things to play with my kids.

And now this includes what I like to imagine as our mini air hockey table – KLASK.

We know there isn’t any air involved with this cool board game from Finland, but there are magnets!

Check out Caleb’s video review of KLASK.

Can the whole family enjoy KLASK?

KLASK was totally made with families in mind.

As you can see from Caleb’s video review, KLASK is great for kids. And it’s also great for parents and kids to play together.

In fact, the size of the magnets under the table may make it even easier for kids to maneuver – and subsequently beat their parents (like Caleb often does).

Will little hands control the magnet better?

It’s also great that there are multiple ways to score points during the game. Sure you can score by getting the ball in your opponent’s goal. But having 2 of the white magnets stick to your paddle or having your paddle fall in the goal also score points for your opponent.

So players can’t just go crazy with moving their paddle around. If they go too wild, they’ll end up giving away points to their opponent. And kids really don’t like to do that.

We also like the high quality of the game components. The game table itself is well constructed and looks nice out on the table. The magnets are a good strength and they slide nicely above as well as underneath the table.

Getting two white magnets stuck to you will give your opponent a point.

How does KLASK score on our “Let’s Play Again” game meter?

KLASK scores high on our “let’s play again” game meter because it’s a very quick dexterity game that’s so easy to play over and over.

Scoring happens quickly and games to 6 points don’t take long at all. We typically play multiple games in succession. And that’s a good thing because it gives me a fighting chance.

For example, let’s say we play 3 games in a row. Rather than having a score track that goes to 18 (6×3) so Caleb can trounce me 18 to 5, the score resets after each 6 points – putting us back on even footing. At least it gives me hope each game that I can do better.

  • Very fun. I don’t remember the name of it now but there was a similar game set up in the Dexterity area at Salt Con. It had a more standard ‘air hockey’ feel to it with the standard goal placement at the back of the field and it didn’t have the addition of extra magnets in the middle. Those changes have me intrigued. I’ll have to check it out.

Currently our favorite dexterity game in the family is our oversized Jenga set we built over the summer to tower above us in the living room. Good fun. 🙂

  • My brother and I played a lot of air hockey growing up. Current favorite that I own would be Terror in Meeple City though I would love to get Flick ‘Em Up or Catacombs.

This looks like a great re-implementation of it, much easier to fit in a space, though I am curious if there is a way to reduce the squeaking.

    • Sparks – There is a bit of noise while playing caused by the magnets sliding across the surfaces (above and below), but it’s not too bad.

  • My family loves the dexterity game “Get Over It” – two teams of two use plastic chopsticks – one per person! – to pick up odd plastic shapes and drop them into a tube. When the time runs out, each team scores points for the shapes they got in (harder shapes are worth more points).
