Ready for some Brain Freeze?
Are you thinking of a Chocolate Milkshake?
Or a Cherry Snow Cone?
Or a Lime Popsicle?
In Brain Freeze players are trying to guess which treat their opponent is thinking of before that opponent can guess what they’re thinking of.
It’s a great 2-player deduction game that everyone in the family can enjoy.
Check out Caleb’s short video review of Brain Freeze to see how easy it is to play and why he can’t seem to get enough of it.
Can the whole family enjoy Brain Freeze?
Absolutely!
Like we said in the beginning, Brain Freeze is a board game the whole family can enjoy playing together.
Ok, we’ll they can’t all play at the same time since it’s a 2-player game, but you know what we mean. Everyone can enjoy playing it.
The publisher recommended age is 5-10. But we’d actually suggest a change – remove the “10” and make it simply “5+” because there’s no upper limit on enjoying Brain Freeze.
Young kids will be attracted to the yummy treats in the game. But they’ll keep playing because of the fun of trying to guess the other player’s secret square.
It’s also a game that’s easy for young kids to understand. As you can see in Caleb’s video review, it’s a simple game of making guesses that can be answered with just a “yes” or a “no”. Based on the responses, players then whittle down the options until they’ve figured out their opponent’s secret square.
The items players are guessing in Brain Freeze are also things kids enjoy thinking about – desserts (ice cream sandwich, milkshake, ice cream cone, popsicle, and snow cone). What a perfectly themed game to play with your kids after dinner.
The dry erase boards are nice and colorful and work well for this type of game. All of the colors in the game match up with a flavor – banana, chocolate, lime, bubblegum, and cherry. And even though a banana snow cone doesn’t sound great to me, the combos work great for Brain Freeze.
Brain Freeze is also a game that mom loves.
I believe her exact quote after her first play was; “now that’s the kind of game I like”. And that’s saying a lot.
Mom’s not a fan of learning rules to a new board game when we sit down to play a game. She prefers to play games she’s already familiar with. To her, learning new rules isn’t relaxing. And when she takes time to play a game, she just wants to relax. So even though Brain Freeze is all about deduction, it’s a simple type of deduction. So she can totally relax while playing Brain Freeze. It gets her mind clicking to a level she really enjoys.
Oh, and Brain Freeze is an award winner as well!
Brain Freeze was recently recognized as a Tilliwig Toy Award “Brain Child” winner for being an “exciting product that energizes the mind while seamlessly blending fun and learning!”.
Brain Freeze is simple fun. And it’s also addicting.
Which leads perfectly into our typical section at the end of our reviews…
How does Brain Freeze score on our “Let’s Play Again” game meter?
Brain Freeze scores at the top of our “let’s play again” game meter!
It’s just like one of the sweet treats pictured in the game – one you love to enjoy and always want more of.
We’ve found it impossible to play only one game of Brain Freeze. The game play is so quick and the challenge engaging enough that playing games back-to-back is a given. As soon as one game ends, simply erase the boards and start over.
Brain Freeze (and it’s partner Telepathy Magic Minds (review coming next)) has earned a prominent spot in our game closet where it’s super easy to pull out and play. Because it’s going to be played a bunch for years to come.
Thanks Telepathy Games for a wonderful family board game!
(If you want more of a challenge, check out Magic Minds.)
