Toc Toc Woodman – chop away

Toc Toc Woodman
Time for some chopping!

Do your kids like games where they get to destroy things?

Or rather, where they get to wreck havoc with the playing pieces?

In Toc Toc Woodman, players get to play lumberjack and use an axe to chop down a tree. And they can be as wild as they want with the chopping. Of course, if they’re too wild, there going to lose the game. Because in Toc Toc Woodman the winner will be the person that chops with more precision than vigor.

Take a look at Brooke’s short video review and you’ll see what it takes.

Can the whole family enjoy Toc Toc Woodman?

Toc Toc Woodman
Pristine tree ready to fall.

Toc Toc Woodman is a dexterity game more suited towards younger kids. Don’t get me wrong – older kids love to knock things down too. But in our experience, older kids find Toc Toc Woodman too simple.

Younger kids however, will have fun trying to hit the tree with just enough force to knock off the bark without knocking off the core pieces. The thought of holding an axe to chop down a tree is a powerful feeling to a young child. But they’ll soon realize that power isn’t the name of the game. Controlling their force is key to winning Toc Toc Woodman.

So if your family consists of younger kids, then Toc Toc Woodman may be a great dexterity game for your family game time. And it’s also great for the kids to pull out on their own and challenge their friends.

The pieces are fantastic
The components in Toc Toc Woodman are very well constructed. They’re sturdy plastic pieces that will hold up to axe blows as long as we can imagine. So even if your kids go crazy with their chopping, the pieces will always be ready for another game.

Toc Toc Woodman
Great tree pieces.

We also love how the bark pieces connect to the central core pieces – which is the key to the game in how the bark falls off the tree. It also makes them very easy to put together and stack for setting the game up.

How does Toc Toc Woodman score on the “Let’s Play Again” game meter?
As mentioned before, Toc Toc Woodman appeals to a younger audience. The most calls for “let’s play again” have come from Brooke and Caleb. They love playing around with the axe and testing their skill in chopping down the tree. And since the game plays so quickly, they’ll quickly set it up and play again.

Thanks Mayday Games for a fun dexterity kids board game!
