Custom Vinyl Chess Boards Spice up the Game

When was the last time you played a game of chess?

Until these last two months, it had been quite a while for us. We’ve been having so much fun playing a bunch of different board games and card games that chess had taken a back seat.

But then 3 things happened in succession over the last two months that changed it up and brought chess back in favor.

The first thing that prompted us to dust off the chess sets was the announcement that the Boy Scouts of America had announced Chess as a new merit badge. Next came National Chess Day. Then we came across a website that sells awesome vinyl chess boards – GLOSgames.

And before you know it, the chess playing began anew.

Cool custom chess boards

When we wrote about National Chess Day last month, we came across images of some pretty cool chess sets. But we also came across a website that creates custom designed chess boards. GLOSgames makes a unique line of vinyl, roll-up game boards for chess that you’ve got to see. The problem we had (and think you will too) is in choosing which designs you like best.

As a local troop scoutmaster, I saw a great opportunity to bring some fun into teaching the scouts about chess. And the great folks at GLOSgames were very responsive and quick to make us a custom chess board with our troop mascot – Ligers.

And they also loved hearing that because the vinyl chess boards are so easy to pack, we’ll be able to take our Liger chess board on all our camp outs. So when they’re up for some head-to-head competition, our troop chess set is ready.

The tough part in pulling out these cool chess boards with the scouts was in battling over who got to play on which board.

One thing’s for sure – playing on a GLOSgames vinyl chess board adds a lot of fun to the game of chess.
