Shake ‘N Take – Crazy family fun
Do your kids love to have chaotic fun when they play games?
If so, then you’ll want to check out Shake ‘N Take – a new game from Out of the Box. As we’ve said before, Out of the Box produces some great board games that are fun for the whole family. And Shake ‘N Take is another one of those great family games.
At the core, Shake ‘N Take is a very simple game about circling items on your board before the other players do. But throw in yanking the pen out of the other player’s hand and a crazy alien die in an egg shaped shaker (and all the noise that goes along with said shaker) then you’ve got some frantic fun.
Can the whole family enjoy Shake ‘N Take?
Absolutely! Don’t think for an instant that the adults have the advantage in Shake ‘N Take. Yes, the older folks may be able to locate alien shapes on their board faster, but when you’re at the mercy of a die roll, anything can happen.
Sure kids love trying to find shapes on a board and circling them as fast as they can. They also love shaking the alien die in the egg shaker and making crazy noise with it. But we’ve found that adults can be even crazier when it comes to Shake ‘N Take.
When we last played Shake ‘N Take with some of the adults in our neighborhood, chaos reigned supreme. Circling alien shapes may seem like no big deal. But when you’ve got someone rattling that die right in your face, the tension mounts and you’ll find yourself in frantic mode. And there was plenty of pleasure every time someone ripped the pen out of their neighbor’s hand.
What’s the best number of players for Shake ‘N Take?
There really isn’t a “best” number of players for this family board game. If you’re playing with less than 6 players, then you use just one pen, one symbol die, and one alien shaker. But with 6 or more, you throw two of each in the mix.
It’s great because this means there isn’t any down time where you’re twiddling your thumbs. If you do have an instant where you aren’t circling, shaking, or grabbing, then you’re laughing at those who are. Or you’re shouting at someone else to hurry and roll the alien head so they can stop Johnny from finishing his board.
How much luck is involved in Shake ‘N Take?
A lot of luck is involved in Shake ‘N Take. And that’s perfectly fine with us. When you sit down to play this game, you’re not looking for anything but crazy fun. So plenty of lucky die rolls just add to the enjoyment.
How does Shake ‘N Take score on the “Let’s Play Again” meter?
Shake ‘N Take gets very high marks on our “let’s play again” game meter. Because of the frantic nature, each game doesn’t last very long. So not only is it very easy to play again, but inevitably someone will have been so close to winning that they won’t be able to stop there.
Thank you Out of the Box for another great family board game!
