Thanksgiving is a great time for Family Games

As the Thanksgiving weekend comes to an end it’s time to reflect on the great time we had to spend with family. No matter where you spent Thanksgiving, we hope you were able to spend it with family.

We had a good start to our Thanksgiving by running in a local 5K. Although I’m sure we didn’t burn as many calories as we would consume later, it was a good way to start the day fresh. Then we joined other family members for a Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings and desserts. The rest of the day was spent in various ways – mostly with adults catching up and the kids playing with cousins.

And as usual, our family was in charge of supplying the board and card games for the family to play. We made sure to take a variety that would be good for casual groups of all ages as well as others that would work for a smaller group of teenagers. So what did we end up playing? This year we ended up playing:

  • Thanksgiving Jingo (Bingo) – with prizes of course
  • Curses
  • Lord of the Rings
  • Sequence

Although some were hoping for Ticket to Ride as well, the end of the day came to soon. But the fun didn’t end that day anyway since Friday was a birthday party for our oldest and Saturday included watching the rivalry football game. So Pandemic got into the mix along with more games of Lord of the Rings. And the boys at the birthday party all played Curses. It was great standing on the sidelines watching teenage boys try to cackle like a witch while speaking like Scooby-Doo in a French accent.

Yep – we’re very thankful for our family and fun memories every day!
