I know when you hear about educational board games for kids, you think " This isn't going to be fun at all." but it can be if you choose the right game. Games that are fun for everyone such as <a href="http://www.mastermindboardgame.com/" rel="nofollow">MASTERMIND</a> or Tri-Ominos can really exercise the brain and yet still be fun for the whole family. Because of flying we had to pack somewhat conservatively. I took San Juan, Archeology, and Scripts and Scribes - all smaller boxed games that fit in my suitcase. I wanted to take Forbidden Island as well, but I think we've got a good selection of games. Of course, we try to play games that appeal to everyone. I'll probably pick up something like Fairy Tale or No Thanks as another filler game. My wife picked "Bandits" as well - an easy filler-type game. Of course, we're trying to introduce our families to games other than Monopoly, Sorry, and similar. That changes our choices a bit. Of course, if we're going camping or similar, we choose differently - dice games, card games, and preferably something that doesn't blow away easily. :) Ticket to Ride, Dominion, Roll Through the Ages, a bunch of dice, a set of cards.
